The aims of this WG are to address the issues that involve the metabolomics and biobank communities, outlining possibilities for a common growth. Metabolomics can provide a sensitive tool to assess the quality of biobanked samples. In the WG meetings pre-analytical practices to assure sample quality will be discussed, together with the use of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) in biobanking, from standardization to quality control, generation of high value meta information and support of epidemiological studies and clinical trials.
